Cast iron frame, double pinion gear, all wooden handles. Good solid 3/8" chuck. This requires a bit of breaking in for really smooth action, but will give you many years of service. A cast iron drill with two wood handles is next to impossible to find these days. Overall length: 12". Made in India.

For the Brad Point Drill Set: nothing fancy here, just a reasonable price for a reliable, everyday set. (See alternative images) Treat them well (watch for heat buildup) and they'll last and last. Drill set includes: 25 pieces, sized 1/8" to 1/2", with a reduced shank above 3/8" (fit all 3/8" drills). Made in China.

(Note: This is the same drill as 89B04.02 in the printed catalog.)

A Real Solid Hand Drill
Reviewed By:   (Van Alstyne, TX)
This drill is what they say - a solid hand drill. There was nothing special about it but it worked well. The only issue I had was that the top handle kept coming loose. I locktited it and it worked fine.

Good light-duty Drill
Reviewed By:   (Seattle, Washington)
I ordered this drill a few months ago and it has become a fairly well-used tool. It goes through hardwood fairly easily. It did need some oiling and breaking in, but it's fairly comparable to some of the better-quality antique drills I've seen and used. The drill is made in India, and another woodworker who uses antique tools told me that it looks like a copy of a British drill that was manufactured in India back before WW2.

Well worth the money
Reviewed By:   (Brazil, Indiana)
This is a solidly made drill that is well worth the purchase price. As advertised it needed a little breaking in. I speeded up the process by making a paste from baking soda which is a fine abrasive and it now turns smoothly. Now when I need to drill a couple holes I won't have to worry about the batteries in my other drills being dead or having to string an extension cord. Some times the "Old" ways are the better ways. The major advantage is that it doesn't matter if I ever have electricity.

Smooth And Quiet
Reviewed By:   (Overland Park, KS)
With a young son at home, my hobby time is sometimes reduced to his afternoon nap time, so having a quiet tool is essential to my woodworking progress. Plus, it's fun and safe for me to use with my son as I teach him woodworking. And having learned old-fashioned methods from my father, this tool has sentimental value.

Solid Performer
Reviewed By:   (APO, AP)
This is a solid hand drill that will complete most task just fine. As advertised, you may need to "break it in" (only take a few times), but that's minimal and a drop or two of fine machine oil will speed the process. This will be my primary hand drill. If I need a finer and more precise hand drill for a particular situation (pretty rare), I will use one of the German models (08C03.03 & 08C03.04) I ordered from Garret Wade. This is a Solid Tool that I am happy to have added to my tool chest! Thanks "Garret Wade" for carrying this product!
