Many well-known European knife makers have been producing fine and beautiful knives in China for years, and marketing them worldwide under well established brand offshoots. Recently, we’ve watched with great interest as the Chinese have begun to produce some very attractive knives in their own right. This very large and handsome Bowie-style Sheath Knife demonstrates these burgeoning skills, and does so at a relatively low cost.
The overall length is 13-1/4" with an 8-1/2" stainless steel blade, pakkawood handle scales, and polished nickel brass guard. A charming detail is the relief scroll pattern bolsters. Sturdy woven belt sheath included. Make no mistake about it, this is a lovely knife as well as being a very great value.
The Carbide Sharpener shown is an amazing pocket tool that works very fast, and a great choice to keep the Bowie Knife sharpened and well-honed.
I love the knife, is nice heavy and good quality but is comes with a cheap plastic sheath. Very deceiving since the picture shows a leather sheath.

Garrett's Best Bowie
Taylor Cain (Lake Charles, LA)
This knife looks awesome in the photo, but is even better in real life! The blade is excellent, incredibly sharp, and the knife is well balanced. Considering placing this knife in my display collection even after using it!

Nice Full Sized Knife
Tom (Dana Point, California)
Actually got this as a free perk for a purchase, minus the sharpener.
This is a sharp, well made, beautiful full sized knife. I saw in on the
site, and it is worth the price, even though I got it for free.

Could Be Better
Sharron (Norcross, Georgia)
While this knife is nice, for the price it could be better. This is not a full tang knife, the picture is misleading. While the blade seams to be made well the handle could be better, the one I received is a little loose and I will wind up replacing the handle.

Not What I Expected or Advertised
Peter St.Onge (Medford, OR)
This knife is not full-tang, an important deciding point for me in its purchase. It looks it in the picture, but the metal shown in the middle of the handle is an extension of the hilt. The blade tang is inserted into the handle and, in my case, loosely so, so that it literally rattles, making me weary of using it for any heavy work. I intend to return the blade because of these two defects. Perhaps this knife is not like those Garrett Wade originally got, or the writer of the description did not know the meaning of the term "full-tang." Just know if you are looking to buy this knife that it is not as advertised. All of my other purchases with Garrett Wade have been sterling, so I'm just chalking this one up to bad luck.

I like the knife but, the handle is too smooth. I wrapped some rawhide around the handle to give it more texture, more feel in the hand and less chance of it slipping if it is moist.

Joseph Tome (Hollywood, Florida)
Though one may not immediately think of China as the source of superior knifes, this tool was a very pleasant surprise. Though not as large as a genuine Bowie knife, it is solid and well-balanced, and I was very pleased with its overall quality.

A terrific tool.
Endel Bendel (Spencer, MA)
Good balance and heft. Handle is smooth and ergodynamic. Feels very good in the hand. Only thing to wonder about is the enduring quality of the Chinese steel.

Thanks for the review, Endel. Please let us know how the steel performs over time.

Good & Sharp
Chapelrose (Pottsville, PA)
I bought this sharpener to mainly keep a sharp edge on all my Brazilian Machetes. A regular shop file can only get the blade so sharp... but this product fills the void very well... even used it on one of my wife's favorite carving knife... now she's happy in the kitchen again... A great buy all around.
