Our Portable Work Table Bench Top is scaled for the young woodworker and fully equipped to provide the tools and means for any novice craftsman to develop skills and build real projects practically anywhere. It's exactly like having your own bench - only portable.

Developed in Germany, the bench top measures 22 x 11-3/4 x 2" and includes a working end vise, 2 bench dogs and 2 clamps for securing the work top to any table surface up to 1-5/8" thick (if you need greater capacity, simply swap out for a couple of Dad's clamps). The bench rails, vise jaw and screw are made of solid birch and the top is birch ply. Two rows of dog holes work in tandem with the 7 x 2-1/4" vise jaws, which sit slightly proud of the top, to securely hold work pieces and small panels for sawing, planing, drilling, glue-up and finishing - the same tasks using the same tools (only slightly smaller and lighter) as a real woodworker.

Attach the bench top to the dining table and supervise their work while fixing dinner, or to a desk in the den, or even to your own workbench in the shop and work right along side your young "apprentice". Four felt pads are supplied for protecting the table below. We like this design a lot!

To complete your child's workshop, we offer our comprehensive Young Woodworker's Tool Set (link) with over 24 real woodworking tools for kids 8 years old and up.

  • Decent product

Erik Langnes, 8/18/2016 Not a bad product for the price. My son loves it and has been using it non stop. It holds items secure and seems to work just fine for him.
  • Be Careful

Joe, 2/13/2016 The holes for the bench dogs are neither .75, .50 or 1.0 which means none of your bench pups, bench dogs etc. will fit. It is probably a metric size. The product is cheap, the backside of bench dog holes are torn out. The vise is a joke as in useless, even for a youngster. The good news is GW is happy to take it back.
  • Woodworker

Markay, 1/15/2015 I ordered this little portable bench top so I could work on small carvings in places other than my workshop. Though the set could use additional bench dogs, I easily made a couple more. While this product might be marketed for kids, for fine or light work, an adult woodworker can certainly make good use of it. It's well made and easily assembled. after using it a few times, I might decide to drill a few more strategically placed holes, but so far it meets my needs.
