Many sheath knives these days have flimsy sheaths. Not this one! It's a a beautiful dark thick leather. The blade 3-1/2 long. The handle is made of gorgeous Cocobolo grips (shown). And the back of its blade is a full 5/16" thick.

  • Cocobolo Sheath Knife

George Arnold, 5/29/2017 The "Cocobolo Sheath Knife" is perhaps better known as the Muela Rhino. Muela is a very well respected family cutlery business in Spain begun by Eladio Muela in 1952. Not widely available in the U.S., this mid-priced finely crafted knife is unique in several ways. This full tang hunting knife sports a full bellied 100 mm (4") drop point satin finished blade of molybdenum vanadium, a stainless steel alloy having the qualities of good edge retention, ease of sharpening or stropping in the field, and resistance to corrosion, abrasion and fracture. The high flat ground blade has a finger choil cut into the ricasso for choking up while working, along with a secondary bevelled edge. A finger grooved 120 mm (4.78") handle of richly textured cocobolo provides the gripping point which is extremely comfortable and well balanced with no hot spots. The knife weighs in at 215 grams (7.58 oz.). The hand rubbed cocobolo slabs are attached to the spine of the full tang with stainless pins, and there is a 3/16" diameter lanyard tube at the handle's butt end. The brown leather sheath is substantial with a well-made snap button keeper strap, and artisan in quality with contrasting double yellow stitching. The blind stamped Muela logo is at the center. This is a fantastic knife, one that I am proud to own and use, and exemplifies the exceptional quality of the fine edge tools sourced and sold by Garrett Wade.
