Does work no other planer can - and does it more quietly!
Festool has broken new ground with a fabulous portable planing machine. The skew-mounted, spiral-cut single-knife design of the HL 850E's planer head (10,000 rpm) makes it much, much quieter than any other planer. Because the mount is on one side of the frame only, the cutting knife planes all the way into the corner of any rebate Four available planer heads (one standard and three optional) produce a wide variety of surface textures on wide board surfaces.
The standard head is flat and smooth cutting for edge jointing and surface planing up to 3-15/64" wide. The three optional heads produce a Rustic Fine, Rustic Coarse or Rustic Undulating surface. An even greater variety of decorative, distressed or rough-hewn effects can be achieved by setting the cutting depth very shallow and sweeping the planer across the surface in a freehand fashion.
