Fishing Dory Rescue Compass
In the golden age of the Grand Banks fisheries, cod was caught by line from dories launched by the hundreds from fishing schooners. Not only an abundantly rich fishing ground, the Grand Banks is one of the foggiest, stormiest spots on earth, and a fisherman's very survival depended on the compass he carried aboard. Our replica all-bronze gimbaled compass (c. 1900) sits in an expertly hand-distressed box with a beautiful, weathered finish. Compass 3; Box 4-3/4 x 4-3/4 x 3-1/4".
