We have long carried an inexpensive one made in India, which is very popular and a solid value. But many customers have asked for a European-made, better quality model. | This could be a good drill but for several faults. Foremost the crank handle is too short to have enough power to work well. I have a dozen hand drills and use them regularly. My older Footprints -- similar design, same color have a 3 3/4" crank and this has 2 1/4" The cheaper Indian drill has a long crank. This short crank makes the drill practically worthless. I could go to a machinist and have a longer crank made and drill and attach it but then one must wonder if the new aluminum gear will hold up like the old steel ones?? And this is a minimal chuck compared to the older heavy duty chuck. Too bad! |

| This is one of the best hand drills. Pricey, but the less expensive ones deteriorate faster. I use them in a children's woodworking studio. I just wish that the centerscrew was able to be adjusted when the gear starts to get wobbly. |
