Setting up the tent for the weekend in the woods or in the yard for the summer requires strong stakes that drive easily and hold securely in any soil condition no matter what the weather. This kit was developed to make that happen. Composed of nine 12" long hexagonal steel stakes and an ingenious stake driving tool that will never bend the shank or fail to drive it deep. (The tool will also remove the stakes with no fuss.) There are enough stakes for the tent body plus the rain fly. Includes a heavy duty roll that keeps everything packed in its place. Experienced campers on our staff think it's a great kit, especially for rocky or compacted soil. Ideal for car camping.

  • Excellent product

Otterman, 11/24/2015 This is a great tool for setting stakes in hard ground. It's really too heavy for backpacking, but is perfect for car or truck camping, rafting, and canoeing when the weight isn't much of an issue. Last summer we had a large bug/pavilion staked down on a hard beach with 8" pegs on the edge of a large mountain lake. I used a hatchet to drive the pegs. At sunset near gale force winds hit the campsite pulling out the stakes and lift the shelter, pulling out the stakes. I broke out this tool for the first time and quickly drove in the 12" stakes. The heavy wind persisted for over an hour but the tent was secure.
  • Great Stakes

S Butterfutts, 8/15/2015 Last month I purchased the stakes with one trip in mind. I used the kit on a four day three park adventure. From the fist time I opened the package I knew the stake kit would work as planned. The sliding hammer idea works extremely well in the cinder, small rocks and dirt. However, if you run into solid rock or a healthy tree root, the slide hammer will give your wrists a ringing. I recommend if you believe the substrate to be a large root or rock, grip the shaft of the slide from the side rather than from the top. As for removing the stakes from any substrate, the device's hook feature will remove the stakes from any substrate, including roots. One other recommendation, for the smaller tents nine stakes are enough. As for the family four person tent and fly, it would be great to have three more stakes, total of twelve.
