We recommend these 7 Japanese gouge tools highly. The combination of quality and cost make them an excellent choice for serious carvers and other woodworkers as well. Fully honed and razor sharp, the blades have a laminated structure whose high-carbon edge allows them to achieve a much sharper edge than alloyed steel - and hold it.
Five of the tools are a deep #8 sweep, from 1/16 to 9/32". The other two are both 3/8", one a #3 sweep, and the last one even shallower. The short 1" long blades are set into finished hardwood handles 4-1/2" long. Made in Japan.
