Camping Hatchets For Every Standard

Having a decent campsite hatchet to help clear the ground and produce kindling for the evening cook-fire is at the heart of the outdoors experience. We already offer several superb small Swedish Wetterlings hatchets (see the Hiker’s Belt Axe & the Camper’s Hatchet). Here are two more – at additional price points. Like most tools, the more costly ones work better, but price cannot, and should not, be ignored.

The Utility Hatchet is made by Condor in El Salvador – a very well respected blacksmithing firm. It weighs 1-1/4 lbs, has a 2-1/2 " long cutting edge and an 8" handle. You’ll be pleased with it. However, if you cannot resist temptation to have and use the very best, the premium hand-made Bavarian Hatchet is for you. The Hickory handle is made by a family of historic coach makers. The specs are weight 1-3/4 lbs, cutting edge length 3-1/2 " and handle length 10". The Condor Hatchet comes with a leather sheath. One is not yet available for the Bavarian Hatchet.
