This special axe is used as a trimming and shaping tool when building. It has a straight edge and a thin blade.
You use it most often by gripping it up close to the head, with your hand nestled in the notch, behind the edge in top of the head. Used this way, it gives you great control and a very stable stroke, and the Axe functions much like an extra-heavy knife. Comes with its leather sheath for protection. Weighs 2-1/4 lbs; 18" long, and has an American hickory handle.
