The 16" long wood handle has a comfortable rubber grip area and the 6" wide centered blade comes suitably sharp to penetrate tough clay-like soils if necessary. It all feels nicely balanced in the hand. If you like the style of Japanese gardening tools, this one is splendid.

Hand Gardening Tool

This is the second tool of this type that I have purchased. In weeding in clay that exists in our area the sharp edge is great as it cuts the roots of the weeds. My objection is the the shank on this model is softer than my other and it bends when aggressively pounding to cuts some of the weeds. One other comments is the finish on the handle is not very durable now requiring sealing once again. Do not like this as much as the prior model.

Fine Tool

I have been using this tool frequently for over a year and it continues to be one of my favorites for planting seeds and shoots, weeding and neatening in my raised beds where I have done a fair amount of soil improvement to my rather heavy clay soil. It is well balanced and comfortable in my hand - a tool which is a pleasure to use. As Mr. Scott notes, it is well made and should last decades with reasonable care...

Super Tool

This is a fantastic all around garden tool. It is great for spot weed removal, for tidying up around trees or shrubs and for small scale planting. When I walk around in my garden, I take this tool with me. The quality of this tool is remarkable. It is far more like a quality woodworking tool in contrast to a garden tool. Usually a garden tool is more crudely made. This is instead finely crafted. It will last for generations with good care.
