We are great enthusiasts for the handiness of traditional oil lamps and for their lovely, soft light. In fact, one of the original makers of oil lamps was a company named "Dietz" located right here in New York in the 19th century. These are the only lamps of this style we have found that are not made in Asia.

After a long search, we found a high quality German maker. These are virtually impossible to accidentally blow out. Fill with kerosene (or lamp oil). Adjust the wick until you get the highest, smoke-free flame. There is a built in "lifter" to raise the glass (for lighting and extinguishing).

These are 10" high to the crown, 15-1/4" with the bail fully raised. Freshly filled with kerosene, they will burn for about 20 hours. We offer these in two durable, baked-on lacquer colors (red & dark green) and in Natural Tinned. (Sorry the blue and black are no longer available.)

Buy 3 or more of any color and Save 10% - reducing the cost to $30.55 each, a $3.40 per lamp Savings

Overall fit and design is great, but the handle had a sharp metal burr right where your finger/ hand would hold it. I ordered in red and some of it was missing under the top hat vent. For being touted as German made I was a little let down.

This is the one you want!

This is the famous Feuerhand lantern made in Germany. I bought 6 of these lanterns and have lit two of them so far using kerosene. They work perfectly, have a steady bright glow and do not smell. This is also the best price you will find on the web at Garrett Wade.

Fabulous Lantern!

I bought two of these lamps a couple of years ago but hadn't lit them. Tonight, I lit one of them, using Lamp Oil (as opposed to Kerosene). I am amazed how well this lamp works. It's bright and steady. I'm glad I made this purchase.

Very pleased with the quality and fit and finish of these lanterns. We have used them for camping and plan to keep them available for power outages. I'm a kerosene lantern noob, but there was no learning curve. Easy to use and very pleasing to operate.
