Even though powered mitre saws are now widely available, a hand mitre box is still an extremely handy tool. This one is solid, with a simple, easily adjusted design. The table is 12" long, and the two removable clamps will firmly hold stock up to 2-3/8" wide (right and left). The stop rod works on either side.

Cutting width is 5" at 90° and 3" at 45°. Max. cutting height is 4". The width of the standard 14tpi 16-1/2" long, double-tensioned hardened wood cutting blade is 1-5/8". The blade can be locked in position up to 45° left and right, with positive detents at 45° (4 sides), 36° (5 sides), 30° (6 sides), 22-1/2° (8 sides) both right and left, plus 90° in the center. Four blade guide rods ensure reliable accuracy in blade travel.

Okay but ...

It cuts well -- especially through the cherry and oak I gave it. The challenge is holding the angle. When set I found the angle kept migrating to a greater number. I used a few C-clamps to keep it from budging. This is too bad in that the main goal of a mitre box is to cut a precise angle! I still use it, and am happy with it generally. Best Possible Mitre Saw Investment

I purchased one of these Kupper saws and am constantly amazed at its accuracy and versatility. Not as fast as a power saw, but for cutting occasional moldings for furniture, this saw is absolutely unbeatable. You can hang it on the wall when it's not needed, clamp it to a sturdy bench when you need to--great tool, bargain price.
