For some time, we have been eagerly awaiting the next generation of exceptional Hi-Tech lights and here it is - with a HID (High Intensity Discharge) lamp. It is, of course, not inexpensive, and in fact we debated whether our customers would be "upset" by its cost. But we decided that they deserved to be aware of the best and latest available, and then the choice was theirs to make.
In contrast with our other lights, this does not use replaceable batteries but its lithium-ion battery is direct charged using its own 115 V adaptor.
HID technology uses a special gas filled bulb and powerful electronics (the kind used in some types of powerful automobile headlights and street lamps) to produce an exceptional beam of light that reaches out 1,600 ft. (When you switch it on, it takes about 5-10 seconds to reach full power.) This is a dual-output light (either 500 or 1,000 lumens), and a simple twist ring adjustment on the body produces the change in lumens with no loss of continuous output. If you want the most powerful, you need to look no further. Length 7-3/4". Weight 1-1/2 lbs.
Note: The life of an HID lamp is quite long (hundreds of hours), but they will eventually need to be replaced. Replacement bulbs will be available through Garrett Wade so just give us a call.
