When you squeeze the handle closed, each of the six independent heads (the shiny, rectangular bits on the surface) slide inward together until they seat evenly on the hex head or nut. Plus, this one tool can do the job of many. For example the 8" Bionic Wrench does the same work as 18 metric and SAE inch sizes - all the way from 7/16" to 3/4" (11 to 20mm). And it has a natural ratchet action, too - just lightly release the grip on the counter-rotation, and as soon as you retighten, it automatically realigns itself.

The 6" long Bionic covers 14 ordinary wrench sizes 1/4 to 9/16" (7 to 14mm) and the new 10" Bionic covers another 19 sizes 3/4" to 1 1/4" (19 to 30mm). All are made in the USA.
