Shaping chair arms and backs, roughing out long curved legs – often this kind of work can be roughed out on a bandsaw, but for final-shaping, especially when the surfaces are rounded over, a drawknife is just the ticket. But they can be difficult and awkward to use.
The Swedish Push Knife is a breeze by comparison. The straight, double-bevel blade (you push it, not pull) and the straight hardwood handles really work – even if you are not experienced. The leverage with a tool 14" from end-to-end overall with a blade only 4" long gives you that great control. It really is a dream tool.
