Lightweight (19 oz.) with a Swedish steel blade, this will quickly cut through a 15" log, yet can be collapsed into a compact 1-1/4" diameter aluminum tube (the longer handle) for travel anywhere. Featured and recommended in many publications as an essential for comfort and safety. A great tool.

Paul Bunyan trades Babe for Trail Blazer
Reviewed By:   (Golden, Colorado)
Paul Bunyan would have traded Babe for the Trail Blazer 18" Buck saw if it had been available. No one should be without one at home and one in a person's personal vehicle. I received mine a week ago and could not wait to use it. We just had a 10" snow fall and using the Blazer to fell, limb, and buck firewood was so easy, it made me feel like if it wasn't against the law I might like to tackle one of those giant Redwood trees. I highly recommend this Buck Saw to anyone. Its like holding a feather with a cutting edge. The quality is great it cuts very quickly and doesn't bind. I am placing another order for one for my truck. Rip Van Noy

One of my favorite pack tools
Reviewed By:   (Marlboro, Vermont)
I got this saw as a gift from my parents. I love bushcraft-style camping (and I'm also a tool geek), so I'm always looking for quality tools that I can easily bring into the woods on a small pack. The saw is a real treat. It packs down to the same length as my camp axe and straps securely to the side of my pack. The contents don't rattle even while running (rattling gear is a big peeve of mine), and the extra space in the tube allows for more than one blade to be carried for those extended outings. I've had this saw for several months now, and I've put it through a lot of work. It's light and compact, but does much more work than a folding saw. The blade is sharp and lasts a long time. I haven't replaced it yet, and see no need to do so in the future. It's no timber saw, but for the weight and size, it's a close second. Between this saw, my axe and my knife, I've built several advanced shelters, a small cabin, and a couple of long term lean-to's for the local trail system. Even in the harshest Vermont winter weather, the aluminum is much warmer on the hands than I would have thought. I agree with the previous reviewer that the addition of an insulating grip could make the saw much more pleasant. I love this saw, and it has a solid place in my tool collection. Well worth the buy.

Camping in Northern Saskatchewan
Reviewed By:   (Regina, Saskatchewan)
Just wanted to comment on this excellent product. I received the 18" buck saw as a Christmas gift and took it on a camping trip over New Years in northern Saskatchewan. Temperatures reached -32C and never got above -20C. Needless to say, the saw got a lot of use keeping the campfire going. There is one change I will make before the next winter trip: to add some kind of tape or foam grip on the handle so there is some insulation from the cold aluminum. I also found an additional use for the saw: it was the perfect tool for cutting frozen potatoes into pieces small enough for rabbit stew.

GREAT PRODUCT!!

Just got your 18" take down bucksaw today. I went outside and cut off some old dead branches from a pine tree in back yard. Biggest branch was 6-8" and the saw cut it in seconds. I can't way to try it out next spring when 3-4 of us do our trail tree clearing on a bunch our favorite dirt bike trails here in Colorado We usually have lots of dead fall that clogs most of our trails. GREAT PRODUCT!!

good experience

The Take-Down Buck saw is a great product and has out performed many other packable saws I have tried. With the design change to keep the blade from cutting into the tubing, it will likely be the perfect saw for my use. Great products and great service are hard to come by these days so I will be sure to share my good experience with Trail Blazer Products with friends and family.
