An important part of U.S. history
The USS Independence was a 10 gun, two-masted schooner built for the fledgling United States Navy in 1775, and saw extensive service in the Revolutionary War. Commanded (allegedly) by the famed Captain Thomas Truxton, it was lost in Ocracoke Creek Inlet in North Carolina in 1778.
This model is 29-1/2" long, 23-3/4" high and 13" wide. (These measurements take into account the whole ship, including the bowsprit, the length of the booms, and the length of the yard of the foremast.) The scale is 1:35.
This early USS Independence was the first of a long line of illustrious Navy ships to bear this famous name, the current one of which is the USS Independence (CVA-62), an aircraft carrier just recently decommisioned. (Additional air shipping charges apply.)
