This is a specialized 9" long tool, but nothing will beat it for efficiency. Use it for fencing, for tying bundles of pipe, fastening a garden trellis and so forth. The knurled nose is shaped for access to tight locations and the slide lock ensures that the wire will remain gripped while twisting.

The clutch pull knob allows you to continually twist until the desired tightness is reached. It's easy to use. Just place two wire ends in the jaws and lock them shut. Then pull the knob on the spiral twist rod. The pliers body will twist the wires tight. Maximum practical wire size for proper auto-twist function is .041" wire (No 18 AWG, 1 mm).

VERY Disappointing

Garrett Wade has always had a reputation for high quality tools. This isn't one of them. A casting flaw ate most of the wire cutter, the head is ground at an angle to the handles, the paint is awful, and there's surface rust on the ground area. The box was taped up like they might have been returned once already. Yes they do work, but they sure aren't $25 pliers. Dissapointing

I used twist-wire pliers nearly every day in the Navy as a nuclear machinist mate, and the ones I used in the service weren't pretty, but they had the following characteristics these do not. The jaws met. The handle lock was easy to engage and disengage. You did not have to flex the handle to get the catch in the lock and the clutch pull knob did not have a spring return. The appearance is identical, but none of the basic functionality is present. I would return it, but it would cost more to ship than its worth.
