This is one of the nicest, effective, environmentally friendly devices we've seen. If you use a free-standing wood stove, as more folks are doing, these econofans will help you circulate warm air around the room. You'll also use less fuel for the stove as a result. Just put the base on the stove top. A small, heat-activated, high-tech motor supplies power to turn the fan. (The power is so low that no blade guard is needed.)

The Small Fan (Ecofan UltrAir Model 810) moves about 125 cfm. The Large Fan (Ecofan Airmax Model 812) moves about 175 cfm. Speed varies with stove temperature. Overall height 8-1/2" and 10". The Fan runs at zero cost for as long as the stove stays hot.

  • Fabulous Fan

Teri Ann, 5/10/2020 Fabulous and innovative design. Works perfectly on our old woodstove in our cabin. Will probably buy a second one for our home.
  • Ingenious air movement

Eloise , 12/13/2017 My husband wanted the ecofan as a birthday gift. We tried it right away on our wood stove. It's ingenious, and does work quite well, however, we have since ordered the larger size to accommodate our log home.
  • Caframo echofans

John weiseman, 12/9/2017 Nice item shipped very rapidly with nice construction.
Thank you Garrettwade for carrying such unusual quality items!
  • Well-built

Nicky, 5/29/2017 I ordered mine this Summer so I have not used it yet but it is very well-built, heavy & solid. I am looking forward to using it this winter!
  • Well built fan

Tom Rasmusson, 2/13/2017 I bought my fan for my stove in my shop. It appears to be well built and very durable. I have not had the opportunity to try it out, but I feel that it will do what I am looking for. I priced these types of fans and this looked like the best deal.
  • Good Fan

Lee Harris, 1/1/2017 I bought small fan for my sister and brother in law in Vermont. They use a small Finnish(I think) wood stove, with fan, it increased room temp 4 degrees. As my wife said in VT thats a lot!
  • Wonderful Christmas Gift

Kendra Howard, 12/31/2016 I bought the small fan for my father for Christmas. He had his doubts as to whether this would work or not. He was pleasantly surprised at the quality and velocity of air that it moved as well as it's high tech looks. I would not recommend for households with small children for safety reasons.
  • Gift for wood burners

Shelly, 12/19/2016 I bought this as a gift for my daughter and son in law. It is sturdy and well made.
  • The Green Fan

Glenda, 5/9/2016 Since I ordered in April and it's too hot here for a fire, I decided to test it out with my gas stove so I wouldn't have to wait until November. It works wonderfully! My stove vents heat so I set it on top after using and it began to spin as the heat increased. What wonderful green thing!
  • Beautiful Construction

T Andrew, 3/4/2016 The Blade rotates pretty fast when the stove gets hot enough. Pushes air around fairly well close to the stove.
  • Circulation of warm air from my fireplace insert.

Jerry, 3/4/2016 I bought the large fan to see how it would work on my small fireplace insert. It really worked well, so I ordered another large. I place them on the top of the insert side by side and they blow the hot air out into the room. It does not take the insert to get up to 150 degrees for them to start, but rather around 100 degrees. And the fire goes out and they continue to perform for a long time. I am so please with them, I also bought motors for when these wear out!
  • Stove Fans

Sarah , 2/23/2015 This is the 4th stove fan I have purchased. They not only circulate the warm air but are a good gauge as to whether to add wood or close the damper. The are great and I highly recommend them.
  • EcoFan Savings

Pamela Kennett, 12/12/2014 I bought this for my husband as an early Christmas gift and couldn't be more pleased. I would have never realized I had actually bought a gift for the entire family. Using this item saved my husband for getting up in the middle of the night to reload the wood stove. It circulates that warmth throughout the house so much better then the blowers. Love we are nice and cozy warm all night.
  • Warm Breezes!

Maggie, 12/12/2014 We needed a means to circulate the heat from our wood burning stove, a reg. house fan just wasn't cutting it, so when I saw this one I thought I would give it a try. We are pleased with the speed at which it came, and are looking forward to trying this one out and hopefully feeling warm breezes" from it! Thanks Garrett Wade Co."
  • This Fan Will Blow You Away

Andrew Beem, 12/5/2014 It's amazing how well this fan works with absolutely no power needed. All you need is some heat from the stove and watch it spin. Moves the air remarkably well. Should last forever!
  • Very Good Concept

Dudley, 1/21/2014 Our stove is a free standing Scandinavian Morso Wood Stove its the one with a heat exchanger on top - had it since 1977. Heats the house like a charm and wanted to add the Large fan - unfortunately the fan will not fit between the stove and the heat exchanger - We stuck a piece of slate on the stove top to have a shelf for the fan to sit on. Because the fan is on the shelf and not on the stove top it works OK. Temp of the heat exchange is 166-206 and the stove top is 399 - being off set, the fan works OK. Will keep it - well built and may add some benefit down the road.
  • Fantastic

Thomas E. Simmons, 11/3/2013 I purchased the Large Fan and love it. It sits on top of my hot wood stove and spins like crazy, using the free electricity it generates. Instead of just heating the large room it is in, my stove now heats the entire upper floor of my house. The fan wasn't cheap, but is worth every penny and should last for a very long time. It seems to be very well built.

  • Perfect Fan

Dick French , 10/30/2013 Hurricane Sandy left my family cold and in the dark without electricity for 11 days. Never again. They put a wood stove in their house recently. Their new ecofan doesn't need electric power. It gave me a way to gift them and help spread the warmth if left in the cold dark ever again.
  • Air/Heat mover

RD, 1/16/2013 I was skeptical, but now I am not! These EcoFans make your heat source more efficient using the heat you are already making move horizontally at no additional cost. Nothing to hook-up, just set it in place and become a believer and save heating cost doing it! Product seems well made and durable.
  • Transforms My Stove

Conrad Plyler, 1/5/2013 We have a freestanding gas stove to heat our den/library. With the thermostat just outside the door, the room got too hot frequently, and a lot of juggling with the temperature setting had to be done. But with just the small stove fan from Garrett Wade, the problem is solved. The room heats evenly, and the thermostat reads a true temperature. This is a super product, just the thing we needed. Buy one for your stove!
  • Very Efficient!

Cinder, 1/2/2013 This little fan works wonderfully with a wood burning stove. It distributes the warm air more efficiently. It also indicates the wood supply in the woodburner by the speed of the blades. A necessity for a woodburner.
  • FANtastic

Dave Pauli, 11/30/2011 This fan has meet my expectations for distrubuting heated air and improving the heat tranfer from out primary home heating stove. We added a supplemental decorative stove top artpiece in front of the fan which even increased the warmth of the air transfered to the rooms
  • Eco-Fan is great

M & J Fisk, 3/21/2011 We live in a 2-story 1898 home on the north coast of the Olympic Peninsula and have been using the larger fan for over two years with our primary heat source, a woodstove. It successfully helps to send heat down the hall from our main room and, in combination with natural convection, up the stairwell to the second floor. We rarely resort to using our secondary heating system of electric space heaters. When winter storms cause power outages, since the fan requires no electricity to function, we still stay snug and warm. We recommend this little giant of a fan!
  • Beauty and Function!!

Martha Ahlmann, 11/25/2010 This fan is amazing! It is beautiful to look at, no assembly required, and does exactly what it is supposed to do - blow heat from the wood stove into the room. In addition, it requires no electricity, and, in case of a power outage, will continue to do its job. I love it. I took it out of the box, placed it on the stove, and it worked. Never have I had so much instant gratification from a product!!! Thank you!
  • self-contained fan

RR Griffith, 4/15/2009 We heat our weekend cabin exclusively with a small woodstove. We tried various electric-fan-and-extension-cord arrangements to keep the small structure warm until I saw this product. It is not cheap, but it is silent and works exactly as described. We now have heat in the other room, with all the power provided by the woodstove. Additionally, the blades are completely safe if a finger or hand gets in the wrong place. This fan is highly recommended.
