On a recent buying trip, we found these sets of traditional Paring Knives among a large trove of forgotten cutlery in a warehouse in Thiers, France. With beech handles and carbon steel blades these were made decades ago and are extremely high quality. This mighty mite is only 7-1/4" long with a 4" blade, but can tackle a wide array of kitchen tasks, like slicing tomatoes, cutting up potatoes to boil, or as a bring-along for a picnic. The "L'enfer" running devil trademark on the blade references the old factory district of Thiers, that was ironically referred to as "Le Creux de L'enfer" (The Depths of Hell). We have very limited quantities of this great utility knife, so when these are gone, they are gone forever. Do not machine wash. Hand wash only and wipe dry immediately.

  • Tale of two paring knives

Nancy, 6/16/2019 Love good knives and thought these might be perfect. I was intrigued by the story of how they were found in a warehouse in France. It all seemed romantic as well as having the possibility of being very good quality. GW was offering free shipping with orders over $50 so I decided to buy three sets. The result is that they are good knives and comfortable to use. I’ve sent one to my daughter and given one to a professional chef and passed on a couple to people who commented on how good they were. I’ve keep some for our use, of course, because “when these are gone, they are gone forever.”
