Garden earth sieves (often called "riddles") have a traditional place in planting preparation. Getting rid of twigs, pebbles, and clods of dirt when preparing new soil is a time-honored way of giving the seeds and bulbs a better chance for healthy germination, and also good for early season preparation of existing soil.

We've seen metal and plastic "riddles", of course, and have no quarrel with them, but these wood framed ones made in Europe just knocked our socks off. Hang them on the wall - they look terrific, but then put them to work. The smaller of the two is 12-1/2" wide and the larger is 14-1/2" wide (34 greater area). These are worth every penny.
